SFAC is looking for two new trustees to join three existing members. 

  • We're looking for a trustee with accountancy skills to support the board review the charities finances
  • And a trustee with marketing / fundraising skills to oversee our strategy to increase our income and meet the growing demand for our work

We are also particularly interested in trustees who are from Black and minority ethnic community or other marginalised people groups. 

 

Who is SFAC? 

SFAC (Strengthening Families And Children) is a UK based charity registered with the England and Wales Charity Commission. 

We are a small organisation that works around the world. Our registered office is in Leeds but our small team work from home across north of England. 

We provide training, coaching, and consultation with qualified and experienced professionals in social work, therapeutic care and legal services to NGOs, governments and judiciaries working in the care and protection of children. 

Since 2002 we've worked in over 40 countries with hundreds of organisations ranging from small NGO in rural Zimbabwe and Thailand to the governments and judiciaries of Paraguay, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Morocco and Kurdistan. Recently SFAC was awarded with Charity Excellence Quality Mark and has award winning staff and volunteers and our founder Mick Pease also has a book chronicling his journey from coal miner to international social work advocate for children’s care and protection (www.childrenbelonginfamilies.net

SFAC is also changing. We are moving from a unincorporated charity to a charitable incorporated organisation.

 

What do SFAC's trustees do? 

You will be asked to attend regular trustee board meetings that take place bi-monthly and occasional other tasks to support our small staff team based on your skills, experience and trustee role. 

 

Who are the current board members? 

Board members include Philip Cotterill, OBE (chair), Jane Booth (safeguarding) and Deborah Shield (human resources and legal advice). Philip is a former director of social services, Jane is a former senior manager in social services and current chair of Bradford safeguarding board, and Deborah is a family lawyer.
